AGM Update

As communicated in recent weeks, the Club Executive have decided to postpone the AGM to a suitable date when we can have an in person meeting, assuming that we can do so.

An Annual General Meeting should be held at such time as shall be decided upon by the Executive Committee, but insofar as is practical shall be held before the end of November each year."

Covid-19 and the Country being at Level 5 has impacted upon the practicality of holding the AGM during the month of November.

The Executive Committee have considered the matter taking into consideration that the GAA this year will permit AGMs to be held online (Zoom) or by way of an Incorporeal Meeting, which effectively means that the AGM would be conducted through correspondence. Concerns were raised regard to the practicalities of either of these methods, the online method possibly disenfranchising some people and uncertainty in confirmation of the voting process and the Incorporeal method being difficult to manage as it requires postal or hand delivery of motions, documents and votes.

In consequence it is the Executive Committee's recommendation that the holding of the AGM be postponed and the prospect of holding the AGM in the normal fashion be reviewed at the end of the Level 5 period.

A message to our Coaches

As we head into the winter months, and restrictions have changed the way we are coaching our teams, it is a good time for us to reflect as coaches. We always encourage our players to improve and get better and as coaches we must do the same and more.

Don’t just turn up doing the same this year as last year and the year before that. The days of running laps are long gone, and our players expect and demand more from us.

This is the perfect time for all coaches to take the opportunity to learn and improve and challenge themselves to set and reach higher standards.

Having a high standard of coaching is a primary and essential component of getting Fingallians to a position as one of the leading GAA clubs in Dublin, across all age groups and codes. To that end, there are a number of initiatives planned for launching over the next few weeks, to help with the development and education of all our coaches.

Primarily, we are initiating a review of our coaching structures, alongside a belated review of the 5-year coaching plan.

There will also be a series of club webinars announced shortly, delivered by regarded experts in their field, which we would encourage each coach to actively participate in.

These will be run alongside a series of excellent webinars organised by Dublin GAA Coaching Development available at

https://coaching.dublingaa.ie/workshops-courses

We will also inform you of other available courses via Social Media

What we are charged with is not just about playing Gaelic games; this is about turning our players into the best and most wonderful well-rounded people they can be. And to do so, we need to work hard individually and as a club.

Every small improvement and piece of learning we do add up and multiplies over time, enhancing and benefitting every player in the cub.
